Occupation of the Franklin
The occupation of the Franklin in The Franklin’s Tale is a landowner. Landowners are people who are simply a freeman. A landowner is described to be “a member of the nobility”. They are generally known for having a generous hospitality for others in need, But in the story, the Franklin would constantly demand gifts and presents from the rich and poor to maintain his status. While Franklin claims that “the gratification of the senses is the highest mode of existence in his house” he is the one who demands a gift in return for being generous to maintain his social status.
